STATEMENT OF WORK

Working from my own photographs, I make paper lithographs of lonely landscapes and forlorn structures to which I usually add more media to in order to create the effect and atmosphere that I desire. These subjects provide solace to my soul but also are a means to express my deep concern for the health and sustainability of my beloved locales by choice of color and composition in an attempt to add a somewhat haunted feel.

Influenced by the 2006 Cormac McCarthy book,The Road as well as by the gritty honesty of Anselm Kiefer's paintings and the melancholic work of Munch's, I believe that the power of this body of work is it's emotional reaction to the present environment in which we live.
